As a child I was inspired by the positive impact that physicians had on several of my family members. I strive to treat my patients as I would want my family members to be treated and enjoy hearing stories about their lives.

Throughout the years I’ve been fortunate to work with diverse communities – including native and underserved communities and working in India and Ethiopia. This has given me better insight into the many factors that determine health and well-being.  In addition to providing primary care services, I’m also trained to diagnose and treat acute and chronic disorders with my hands using osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT). Through OMT I am better able to bring alignment back to the individual and restore balance in body, mind, and spirit.

I love that as a family physician I’m able to treat families and individuals throughout their lifetime, from keiki to kupuna. This allows me to gain a more comprehensive understanding of my patients. The main goals of my practice is to work in partnership with my patients to find successful long-term care plans that are tailored to each person’s individual needs.

Spending time with my family and watching my kids grow and learn are my greatest joys. Being out in nature is also very important to my well-being. I love to walk, hike, go to the beach, and explore new places.

My dream is to provide practical medical guidance that will empower each person I work with, to encourage people to be their most authentic selves and to help foster the strong community that surrounds us. My passion is to help people live their best lives through embracing a sustainable, healthy lifestyle. I believe that the foundations of a healthy life are trust, honesty, and authenticity — which is what you will get with me as your doctor.

A healthy life is a balanced one. Outside of work and continuing education, I enjoy spending time with my family, plant based cooking, learning to garden, film photography, and adventures with my Siberian Husky.

I found this excerpt from my application to residency and it is still as true today as it was then:

“I promise that I will always be non-judgmental toward you and will always have your best interest at heart. Your health brings me peace and tranquility. We will celebrate life and embrace happiness. We may sometimes cry, but always with the hope of smiling again. I look forward to working with you and knowing you.”

In 2002, my journey in healthcare began.  It is now over 20 years later, and I’ve developed and grown into the provider I have always wanted to become.  Much earlier in my life, I felt drawn to helping others.  Naturally, I followed my true calling to help others and I have found joy in providing nurturing support and guidance for the patients I serve throughout my career. I consider myself to be the lucky one that gets to pursue my passion through such a fulfilling career as a Family Nurse Practitioner and a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.  With this combination, I feel more able to care for the complete patient. It is my belief that a strong mental health foundation is better able to support our bodies in physical health.

My patients inspire me and my approach as a primary care provider – their goals of achieving individual health is my goal as a provider.  I take great pride in meeting my patients exactly where they are, I enjoy working together with them on their health journeys, and I find fulfillment in helping them become the people they aspire to be. As individuals with uniquely different goals, my patients can count on me to be there to support them in ways that work best for them.  They can expect care that is intentional, loving, supportive, and free from judgement.  Together, we will collaborate to find the path to health that is best suited for each patient, specifically.

While we all may have unique plans and different expectations for our healthcare, I am so grateful to be a positive source of consistency for my patients throughout their healthcare journeys as they strive to achieve lasting health and wellness.

My work offers such great satisfaction in my life, but outside of that I also enjoy spending time with family and friends, especially outdoors at the beach. Nature and laughter are often the best medicine for me! I aspire to have a robust home garden but am still trying to figure out why I have more dead plants than anything. Oh, and do two cats constitute a “cat lady?”
